Your Thinking Machine

How much control do you have over the content and impact of your thoughts? More than you think.

Start by listening to what you think. What words do you use? How critical are you? How nurturing? What emotions result? Those feelings impact your results.

Thoughts often live below the conscious level so bring them to consciousness by saying and writing them. You’ll start to hear why what you think may be producing results you don’t want.

Next, take charge of the writing of replacement thoughts. Self-talk is the engine. Don’t use the phrase: ‘I am _____’ because you might not be. Instead, say ‘I enjoy.’ ‘I enjoy fitness, self-care and positive thinking.’ If I say ‘I enjoy remembering names,’ I’ll pay attention naturally. We all do what we enjoy. We would do well also to spend good time communicating with our self. Don’t let the brain have a mind of its own. You are its brain and have all the control and power you want—just by claiming so. It’s your game.
