We're not Listening

A jumble of black letters with the words "Do you have too many things to listen to?" overlaid.

With so much on our minds, we have become bad at paying attention to one thing and may not even hear what we think we’re listening to.

Where else could our mind be when we think we’re listening? It could be on half a dozen other things and we’re trying to pay attention to all of them.

We try to keep so many balls in the air but it proves bad for all the things being juggled.

When we juggle, we’re only touching (paying attention to) one of the balls at a time so the others are on their own for 90% of the journey around the circle. If we’re poor at paying attention, we should build those muscles instead of trying to pay attention to more things.

What if we didn’t try to juggle and gave all our attention to one thing at a time? Then go on to the next and the next. That singularity can produce great results.
