The Biggest Mistake

It's about the listener's learning not the presenter's presenting

The worst thing a vast majority of presenters do is focus on their presenting. “What if I forget something?” “What if they don’t understand?” “Do I have enough slides?” “Am I making sense?”

While it’s certainly good to be prepared, you are far better off focusing on the Listener’s Learning. What do you want them to take away from your presentation?

The audience is more interested in what they will learn from you than how you are doing. You should be living in THEIR head, not yours.

Prepare your purpose statement carefully. Prepare your central idea enlighteningly. This is the residual message you want to leave with your audience and every thought you have while presenting should be about it, not about your speaking.
