People who like to dump their woes on you, are battery drainers. They are problem-oriented and often bring them to you and then YOU have to use YOUR battery to fix them. People like this suck the life out of your battery. Wean them and their emotional impact off your battery.
However, are you subconsciously signaling they have the right to? They may see you as a good listener and take advantage of that.
The solution isn’t to stop being a good listener; it’s about rethinking to whom you avail your ear and how much. You don’t have to invite them to drain your battery. Gently, train them to work out their own issues with their own batteries.
If some of the problem is you attracting them, at least you have control over that. Start start turning off the magnet. At first, it may feel like putting up a guard but boundaries are OK. It’s not your job to fix their problems. Focus on how to manage and grow your own battery.
