Persuade not Inform

Based on what you say, what are you persuading your audience to think?

Informative speeches are inert. They are passive. They tell us information.

Persuasive speeches are passionate.  They are active. They engage and teach.

When you do a persuasive speech, you want to change points of view, beliefs and values.

This is active and challenges people listening to you.

If you’re simply telling them something, are you engaging them?

Get in my face a little. Tell me something to which I think “Oh yeah?”

Then—armed with your evidence—convince me why.
