When you hear a great song, you don’t go home humming the band. You go home humming the tune that stuck with you.
In the same way, good speaking isn’t about speaking.
It’s not about the person standing at the front of the room. It’s about the lesson the speaker is trying to plant in the mind of the audience. It’s about what the speaker wants the audience member to believe, to think and to do.
The audience doesn’t care how the speaker feels; they care about what all this has to do with them.
